Our last days with Cousins

June 19, 2011

We had a family meeting today and got to hear stories of Keith’s parents’ childhood. They each grew up having lost a parent at an early age and had to work extra hard to help the family. The brothers and sisters then shared their own stories of their own childhood and reminisced about bones broken, M80s blowing up in their bedroom and other crazy stories that are probably typical when you have four boys growing up in the same house. The afternoon was spent making rockets and then launching them at the local school, another typical thing to do when you have a rocket scientist for a father-in-law and engineers for your bothers-in-law. We took a walk around the lake that evening and then had fresh pineapple and the best Hawaiian chicken, thanks Annette. For dessert Deanna made this amazing crockpot mud cake – she got the recipe from Kristen Muir and I am hoping to put it in our upcoming ward cookbook.

After cleaning and packing up, we headed back towards San Jose and stopped at New Melones again – another fun day of tubing and wakeboarding. We drove back to Keith’s parents house late at night. I can’t believe that after tonight we only have one more night in the United States.

Today was spent washing and getting ready for the last leg of our trip. We are now headed to Santa Cruz to spend the evening at the Boardwalk. It’s dollar night, all the rides, hot dogs, and cotton candy are a dollar each and we are meeting all the cousins to help celebrate Kayla’s birthday.
